"HOW THE SLAY BEGAN"

My name is Donna and this is my daughter Dayna, aka "Dayna Slays." I am a Graphic Designer from Boston, MA and I graduated from Mass College of Art and Design with a BFA in Communication Design. I am a single mom with four children, which can be very challenging at times lol, but being a fun, loving and caring family outweighs those challenges. We enjoy art in many ways and I would say we are a pretty creative family.... ok, well maybe a.....

Our Mission

Hands on Learning at it's best!

WHAT IS FINE MOTOR DELAY?

Fine motor delay is when a child is not able to use their hands and fingers to hold, manipulate, and use objects when the child is at the right age to do these things. Fine motor skills require eye-hand coordination — the ability to see something and respond with the right movements in the hands and fingers.

Our goal at Dayna Slays is to create fine motor products that help with fine motor development.

We understand how important it is to use our hands and fingers for everyday functioning. Many task can be difficult if there is low muscle tone in your fine motor abilities. Hands and fingers require strength to perform certain task.

We are set out to provide fine motor tools that assist with daily self-care skills, some such as dressing, shoe lacing and zipping.  In additional to other functions such as writing with instruments, object gripping with a combination of muscle strengthening activities.

Our goal is to innovate and spread empowerment throughout the universe and to help rehabilitate fine motor skills during growth and development.

Children begin to learn to tie their shoelaces between the ages of 5-7. Shoe tying is an important self care skill. It can be challenging for children and it takes alot of practice and motivation. Some children may have motor or learning difficulties which may interfere with the ability to learn these skills. Theses difficulties may also put a dent in the steps required leading to some fustrations of completing too many steps and too any versions. Some children may require OT services. Children become independent and have to learn self- care skills.

We Giveback

Dayna Slays hosted its' first annual giveback event "Poinsettias for Elders" in December of 2021. Our young "Dayna Slays" ambassadors delivered poinsettias to two senior homes in Boston MA to elderly residents in the community as a way to spread peace, love, joy and kindness. It was also a motivating way for the girls to experience the gift of giving and they slayed it!!

We at Dayna Slays are empowered to provide quality, long-term solutions for a number of pressing issues affecting children with fine motor delay. Our most significant causes are those that are often brushed aside by most. We have conducted user product testing and have been working on our second manufactured prototype, improving the design to fit the needs of our customers.
